Our year has started with a lot of momentum and excitement. We are privileged to journey with many clients who experience growth in their businesses and this creates great opportunities for developing people and building exceptional organisations. We find their journeys inspiring and it challenges us to continuously provide innovative solutions for individuals and teams. We love this!
Our most exciting event this year thus far was the opening of our offices at Blaauwklippen Wine Estate. We have moved into the old manor house; a beautiful space in an amazing setting in the Boland. The manor house will have a dual purpose in that it is a facility for us to work, have our smaller team sessions, and also our coaching conversations with clients. It is however also available as a venue for executive meetings, other coaches who are in need of a creative and quiet coaching space and for small corporate presentations. We believe that the space that you work in has a significant effect on creativity, innovation and productivity. Our space, combined with beautiful surroundings, offer something unique to support this. For more information and a detailed description of Plumb Line Executive Spaces Click here
Another great occasion was the appointment of Mareé Loubser. She is our Executive Assistant and we are certain that she will make a big difference to our service delivery and also our own work/life balance. Mareé comes with great experience in administration and organising and we look forward to having her as part of the Plumb Line team. Mareé will also be managing our Executive Spaces and she can be contacted at executive@plumbline.org.za or 082 927 2237
In our search for world-class tools to support our service to clients, we identified The Leadership Circle© as a leading tool to assess leadership effectiveness. It is one of the best tools for development of leaders and also has a great application to identify leadership culture in organisations. This is key for defining the desired culture to be modeled in companies to achieve results. Wickus has completed the certification and is now accredited to use the 360 degree tool as part of our process of leadership development. Contact Wickus to set up a demonstration of the tool or to request more information on how this can add value to your leadership team.
Another great addition to our toolbox is a partnership with Neurozone. André recently completed the coaching training and accreditation to use the assessment. Neurozone is an assessment tool based on proper neuro- science and support individuals as well as organisational teams towards better brain performance. This is offered with specific coaching and team processes and adds value towards growth and optimal functioning with the unique Brain Performance Opportunity Profile as well as a detailed action plan. For more information or to use the assessment contact André or visit www.neurozone.com.

We know that the context of learning is extremely important to ensure assimilation of new information and new ways of learning. During February we had the opportunity on two occasions to work with teams in various outdoor settings. Wickus facilitated a leadership training intervention of 2 days on a slack-packing hiking route in the Overberg. This was a great opportunity to get a team out of the office to experience nature, and also be challenged outside their comfort zones at some points. Much can be said about the impact of the 2 days but in Wickus’ view, the great wins were the real and deep levels of relaxation, space for honest conversations, and a new way of connection between people, facilitated by the beautiful environment.
Have a look at www.fynbostrail.co.za to get an idea of the route and let us know if you would like to experience this with your team.
Our second nature learning experience was organised by a client at a beautiful garden outside Stellenbosch. André facilitated an introspective exercise whilst walking and then guided the group discussion to share learnings and insights in a natural boma of Poplar trees. This was a great example of how quickly people can make meaningful connections for themselves and discover great insights when being in a conducive environment for creative thinking.
All learning does not have to happen outdoors to be meaningful. The context of learning is however important to support learning and we think it is helpful to every now and then consider alternative ways of ensuring this. As facilitators we are excited about the possibilities for individuals and teams when being out in nature. We hope that even the setting of our offices at Blaauwklippen Wine Estate, will contribute in the same matter to all who visit us here.
The year is gaining momentum and the next school holidays are upon us. Our wish for you is that you get to experience unique moments of personal discovery and great times of productive fun with your teams!
All the best
André, Wickus and Mareé
